Furnace Social Club

What is Furnace Social Club?

Furnace Social Club is our network for local artists. It’s a community, a conversation and a chance to come together, meet people and spark new collaborations.

What will being a member mean?

    • Regular newsletters

You’ll receive regular newsletters listing offers and opportunities with the Playhouse and organisations across the UK. You’ll also have access to a members-only Facebook group.

    • Ticket discounts and offers

Two £5 tickets per person for previews of Playhouse own-produced productions.

A discount of 20% off two further tickets at any time in the run for all Playhouse own-produced work. NB: All discounts are subject to availability and are not usually applicable to visiting work or Barber Studio work.

Further ticket offers and deals sent out via the Furnace Social Club Newsletter which are offered on a first come, first served basis.

When booking tickets, please tell the box office that you are a member of Furnace Social Club to receive your discount.

    • Free rehearsal space

We offer free rehearsal space to all local artists, dependent on whether we have space available in the building, on the following basis:

      • You must be a member of Furnace Social Club.
      • We need to have met you first, had a brew and discussed your work.
      • We don’t offer any payment or technical support.

We calculate the in-kind value of any rehearsal space that is offered so that artists can use it in ACE applications if appropriate.

    • Make It Happen workshops

Year-round, industry focused workshops, FREE to all Furnace Social Club members.

      Our next workshop is:

Make It Happen: Get to know Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants
      Wednesday, 16th May 6pm – 8pm

Arts Council Relationship Manager, Emma Forster will be here to talk you through the new Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants, in place of Grants for the Arts. Emma will be able to show the differences between the two funds, introduce any changes to the application process, and answer any questions you might have too.

This session is open to any artist, whether you’re currently working on a Project Grants application, or are thinking about applying for a future project.

      Book your place here.

    • Unlocked Events

Gain in-depth insights into how we make the work on our stages, led by our creative teams in partnership with Creative Engagement.

Check back here for information on our next Unlocked event.

    • Furnace Social Club nights

Our Furnace Social Club nights are fun and informal events where you can come to have a good time and meet like-minded artists.

      Drag Queen Bingo – 24th May 7-11pm

Ah! Britain’s favourite pastime. Swirling your balls around a cage, plucking them out for the world to see, and vualá! Bingo! What more could you ask for?

      Drag Queens Dorothy… Drag Queens… that’s what’s more!

Your host; Miss Playhouse herself, Jezabelle Herm-Aphrodite Bonaparte, with her legs cranked all the way up to eleven, as she calls the balls and dishes out the prizes (and the dirt.)

There may even be apres Karaoke… who knows? Yes Dorothy, Karaoke…

First game starts at 7pm – Places are free but limited so booking is FUN-DA-MENTAL! An evening of fun, frolics and frottage brought to you by West Yorkshire Playhouse and Live Art Bistro.

    • Fancy a brew?

We aim to meet as many local artists as we can for a brew, a chat, and a chance to say hello. Every month, our team meets an average of 50 artists on a 1-2-1 basis. So feel free to get in touch – our contact details can be found to the right hand side of this page.

Furnace Social Club membership and all events are FREE. Further information of these benefits can be found below.
