More Information on Instructions for Border Crossing

This production is part of Furnace Festival. Find out more

A twelve-year-old girl sneaks across the border into her own country. Her parents watch her on a computer screen. The works of a half-forgotten performance artist seem to hold the key to bringing down a brutal system operating on our behalf and under our noses. Do you join in? Or do you look the other way?

From the maker of The Price of Everything and Going Viral, Instructions for Border Crossing is the exposed gearbox of a political thriller. Blending Daniel Bye’s trademark storytelling with a series of live interventions from the audience*, the show itself is as unstable as the world it describes.

*Don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.

“Bye is one of the most astute and thoughtful contemporary theatre-makers around.” The Stage

British Sign Language Interpreted

A Signed performance is the usual full production with the addition of a British Sign Language Interpreter who stands on the stage interpreting the show for Deaf attendees.

Audio Described

Audio Described performances are designed to improve the experience of visually impaired and blind attendees. As well as listening to the dialogue on stage the customer can wear a headset and listen to a live description of the action on stage.
