What is First Floor?
Best Place in Leeds for Children and Young People in the 2014 Child Friendly Leeds Awards.
First Floor is West Yorkshire Playhouse’s venue for 11 to 19 year olds (14 to 25 with a learning disability). Whether you want to try something new or develop your skills, there are lots of different music, drama and art activities on offer.
At First Floor we want to help young people to learn new skills, discover new talents and interests and meet new people. We want to help you find out what you’re good at and develop it. We also want young people to be able to learn about the different kinds of jobs within a theatre and find out how to get more experience or training.
During the school day we run programmes for groups of young people, not in full time education, training or employment.
How does First Floor work?
We are open six days a week, three nights a week; and offer weekly drop in sessions in music, art and drama. We also have longer creative projects that run over the course of a number of Saturdays, as well as offering a range of alternative provision programmes and outreach sessions.
