At West Yorkshire Playhouse we have been committed to creative engagement with older people since we opened our doors in 1990. We believe that discovering and developing our creativity as we age has an enormous impact on well-being. We offer projects that are challenging and fun, where older people can forge friendships and social connections, and where their contributions are valued and celebrated.
Heydays is our long-standing creative programme for over 55s, taking place on Wednesdays since 1990. It is the largest and longest running arts programme for older people in UK theatre. Around 300 older people attend each week to take part in everything from drama and dance to sculpture and creative writing, supported by a team of professional artists. Heydays is a vibrant, creative community where skills are developed and stories are shared.
If you are interested in Heydays, please come along on a Wednesday (during our current programme) at 10am to meet our Friendly Face volunteer. You can take a look around to see if Heydays might be for you.
