Transform: My Leeds My City

Transform is West Yorkshire Playhouse's festival of theatre and performance which pushes at the edges of practice and helps re-imagine what theatre can look like and what it can do.

For the third festival this April, we're exploring the idea My Leeds, My City. We've been working with some of the most remarkable talent in Leeds - spanning companies, directors, theatre artists and writers, looking at the city through a theatrical lens.

We'll be telling the stories of the people and places in close proximity to us, and working together with our neighbours. Beyond the outdoor productions, the Playhouse itself becomes the hub of the Festival. We're throwing open the doors to a mix of exciting artists and companies who we can ensure will keep you surprised, delighted and up late, every single night of the festival.

	The Market Drawn from the words of the people who work in, shop in and remember Leeds Market in times gone by, this new verbatim production tells of the big stories and even bigger characters held within its walls.
	The Johnny Eck and Dave Toole Show Johnny Eck was an American freak show performer born in 1911. Dave Toole is a dancer, choreographer and performer from Leeds. This is a show about both of them. And it's about Leeds.
	Burmantofts StoriesCreated in collaboration with poet and writer Rommi Smith and musician Simon Beddoe, this outdoor performance blends spoken word, movement and music in a colourful and vibrant spectacle outside the high-rise Shakespeare Towers.
	The Rage Receptacle The Rage Receptacle is an interactive sideshow for people of any age. It takes no longer than a coffee break so come and find us on Eastgate for fun, games and a chance to let off steam!
	The Cabaret Club Featuring the most exquisite of Leeds cabaret talent alongside national and international friends, for one very special evening, allow yourself to be thrilled by magic, high voltage wonder and sensational surprises.
	The Park Transform Designer-in-Residence Hannah Sibai is bringing the city into the Playhouse - stop by The Park and chill out on the lawn or a deck chair, have an ice cold drink at the bar... and enjoy.
	The Bandstand During the evenings on The Band Stand there's a range of FREE music and activity to delight and entertain.
	The Den We've created a special, intimate studio theatre space at which will play host to some of the most exciting new talent and performance in the city.
	Talks and Workshops Explore some of the Transform productions further by participating in free workshops and events at West Yorkshire Playhouse.
	Navigators Trust in the navigators, they will guide you. A walking experience which explores the untold stories of the city and the paths we travel.
	Feast We invite you to join us for Sunday Dinner. An afternoon of ideas, food and music amongst excellent company, featuring live music by folk band Hunting Bears and thoughtful contributions from our speakers.
