backstage or technical theatre placements are only available to
over 18s. Placements last four days, Monday to Thursday and are
available for the following dates:

Monday 9 - Thursday 12 January 2012
Monday 6 - Thursday 9 February 2012

It is a general administration placement based in Arts
Development. Your main tasks while on placement will be to help
with the planning, preparation and delivery of Creative Education
workshops with Primary aged children and assisting on the Heydays
project (an arts activity project for the over 55s). Other work
during the week may also include assisting with backstage tours for
a school or community group, watching a matinee performance or a
visit to our Costume Hire department.
The Playhouse is inundated with placement requests, on
average receiving 20 phone calls, emails and letters a week. It
simply isn't possible to accommodate everybody and so we ask that
you only contact us regarding the available dates listed above
and recommend you book your placement early.
Please send a letter of introduction about yourself, which school
you attend, your interests and the dates (from the list above) that
you would like to have a placement. We ask that you also include a
contact telephone number and email address.
Letters should be sent to: Placements - Arts Development, West
Yorkshire Playhouse, Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UP,
and emails to lisa.parrott@wyp.org.uk
