When We Are Married
4 April 2009
to 25 April 2009 Quarry Theatre
In 1908, in a town in the West Riding, three couples are gathered to congratulate each other on twenty five years of comfortable, respectable marriage. However as the after luncheon drinks begin to flow, it’s suddenly apparent that those vows weren’t as binding as they first thought. Before long henpecked husbands and worn down wives are beginning to wonder exactly why they stuck at being married so long!
As word of their problem spreads through Clecklywyke, an old flame returns and other uninvited guests start to call. With a photographer due to arrive any second to take their photograph for the local rag, will wedded bliss be restored or will it all end in tears?
Directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Ian Brown, J.B. Priestley’s classic farcical comedy features an exciting cast that includes renowned comic actor Les Dennis. A timeless satire of self importance, When We Are Married is packed with larger than life characters and hearty laughs.
