Shake the Dust 1Great news from the National Poetry Slam final which took place in London on Saturday  - our amazing young people from RalphThoresbySchool in Leeds were highest scoring winners.

The 8 young people aged 12 - 15 worked with Poet Coach Simon Murray from Leeds Young Authors and Shadow coach Rheima Robinson to bring the trophy home to Leeds.

There was stiff competition, especially from London (The Roundhouse at The Albany) and Manchester (Young Identity Old Trafford at Contact) and from the other 6 regions.

In June West Yorkshire Playhouse hosted the Shake the Dust Yorkshire and Humber Regional Slam in the Courtyard Theatre. 5 teams had been working with their own poet Coach and shadow poet coach to create 3 Shake the Dust 2pieces to perform in the competition. It was an amazing night which saw performances from Livin Vocally and Unbound, high quality poetry and Ralph Thoresby High School winning the competition which meant they would be part of the national final.
