Are you a theatre maker in West Yorkshire?
Are you looking for a space to develop new work this summer?
Perhaps Summer Sublets is for you.

Summer Sublets is a new pilot as part of Furnace, WYP's new work development programme, where we have some rehearsal space available during the summer months (July-August) which we're keen to share with artists who are developing new projects.

How does it work?
We are seeking applications from theatre makers who are looking for a space to develop a new project. We are open to applications from companies, solo artists or collectives.

Priority will be given to artists in West Yorkshire who are not regularly funded and who are at the early stages of their careers. Space will also be assigned based on availability.

In return we ask that on the final day of your residency with us you're willing to share a snippet of what you've been working on with some members of the WYP team.

How do I apply?
Please send an email application to Amy Letman, Associate Producer, by Monday 18 June 2012, which includes the following information:

  • Brief description of you and your work (max 250 words) plus any relevant supporting documentation (images, video, etc)
  • Brief description of the project that you're developing and any future plans you might have for it (max 250 words)
  • Details of the timeframe and times of day that you're looking for a space (during July/August)
  • Details of the kind of space you ideally require (ie size/nature of space)
  • Brief description of the ways you feel Summer Sublets could support the development of your new project and your work in general.

If you like the Coen Brothers and Spalding Gray, come check out a show that brings the two tetgehor. Life Insurance is a one-man, darkish comedy that follows the story of a motorcycle crash on a Virginia road from three perspectives all played by one actor, also the writer of the play, Joel Jones. It received much critical acclaim in the DC Fringe last month.
