This is your chance to rehearse a brand new play and perform it on a professional stage! You will work with Assistant Directors from the Playhouse to develop your own production of Little Foot by Craig Higginson. As well as performing the play to your friends and family at First Floor on Saturday 3rd March, you will perform it in the Playhouse's Courtyard Theatre on Saturday 12th May.

National Theatre Connections is a nationwide celebration of young theatre talent. Ten thrilling new plays have been commissioned by the National Theatre from some of today's most exciting writers. You will form one of six youth theatre groups and schools working with West Yorkshire Playhouse, each of whom will perform one of these plays in the Courtyard Theatre in May.

The Play: Little Foot by Craig Higginson

Deep within the South African underground caves, a group of friends meet to spend the night and explore its mysteries.

The so called 'Cradle of Humankind' caves are home to the oldest human remains. As the young friends venture deeper and deeper, strained relations and questions of loyalty take hold. With truths revealed and loyalties undone, these modern teenagers are stripped back to their primordial instincts.

Surrounded by a chorus of ancestral voices, the group unravels. Just how far will modern humans go to exact revenge? This poetic play draws on Greek Tragedy and South African folklore to create a powerful portrayal of modern relationships.

Open to young people aged 13-19yrs who are studying drama or performing arts or who are members of a drama group.

Places are limited. You need to be able to attend all sessions. Cost: £20 (If you need help with this cost please get in touch)
